The Rev. Dr. Michael Jamison, 58, leads Grace Crossing, a new Cooperative Baptist Church that meets at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg. The church will move its offices to land it owns at Rocky River Road and I-485 this fall.
Originally from Sylva, Jamison has been a Baptist minister for more than 30 years, serving in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh and Winston-Salem. He and his wife, Libby, live in Davis Lake and have a son, Matt, and a daughter-in-law, Alyson. The family dog, Winston, is a 5-year-old Wheaton Terrier.
Only my friends know that my favorite bands are …
The Beatles and U2.
A teacher once told me …
“Shut up and sit down.”
To appease my wife of 31 years, I …
Act like I’m always listening to her.
…But I draw the line at …
Listening to everything she says.
My favorite pastimes are …
Music, golf and reading.
One full day completely to myself would include …
A round of golf, playing my bass guitar, reading and playing with my dog.
If calories weren’t involved, I could die happy eating …
Anything chocolate.
I choose books and movies over TV and my favorite kinds are …
All kinds of books and all kinds of movies.
If I could escape to anywhere in the world it would be …
Anywhere out West — Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Grand Canyon. I’m intrigued by the beauty there.
If I weren’t a minister, I would be …
Maybe a football or baseball coach … or, in my dreams, a musician.
